ArtSHINE is a social enterprise.
Our mission is to inspire and empower commercially minded Creatives to build sustainable enterprises and generate viable incomes through our flexible, practical,
and real-world approach to creative practice, commercialisation, art licensing, and entrepreneurial education.
As a new member of the ArtSHINE community this preamble has been provided to outline some key expectations of you as an ArtSHINE community member and potential ArtSHINE Artist, and in turn, what you may expect from us too.
By accessing an ArtSHINE Membership, ArtSHINE Coaching program or ArtSHINE Services, you agree to be bound by these general terms & conditions.
ArtSHINE’s main offices are located on the unceded lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.
ArtSHINE acknowledges the true owners of these stolen lands.
ArtSHINE pays our respects to the Traditional Owners and Elders since time immemorial and we pay tribute to the resilience of Indigenous communities throughout Australia, and throughout the world.
We open our hearts in friendship to all; and we offer our community of creativity, our spaces, and our enterprise in the spirit of collaboration and the mutual encouragement of all.
ArtSHINE calls for the urgent implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and the immediate establishment of a Makarrata Commission so we may all begin the process of truth-telling as the way forward to Treaty and Voice:
- TRUTH
- TREATY
- VOICE
We encourage ArtSHINE community members to acknowledge First Nations Peoples, Lands, and Communities in their own locations:
As members of the ArtSHINE community we all recognise and acknowledge that while our businesses are our business to own, operate, and control, being an ArtSHINE Community Member is also about voluntarily working
alongside other like-minded Creative Industries Professionals based on mutual trust.
ArtSHINE, like any other community, must have common understandings to protect the enterprise, the members, the stakeholders, and our wider communities.
And as ArtSHINE Community Members we are also invited to work together to contribute to, and to improve these common understandings over time.
The ArtSHINE member community ascribes to two fundamental tenets:
- Enlightened Self Interest
We all act to further the interests of others (and the interests of the group or groups to which we belong), because we understand helping others ultimately serves our own self interests too. - The Platinum Rule
Do unto others as they would have you do unto them (i.e., not the Golden Rule: as you would have them do unto you).
ArtSHINE is a community of acceptance and respect for self and others.
At ArtSHINE diversity means more than just equal opportunity or tolerating others. As a member of the ArtSHINE community we seek to move beyond tolerance towards acceptance – Acceptance of ourselves, and acceptance of others.
As ArtSHINE community members we respect and value differences – emotional, intellectual, physical, and experiential. We recognise difference and diversity as the key strength of our creative communities.
As ArtSHINE community members we seek to co-create inclusive communities where alternative insights and differences are welcomed and embraced. While we work independently (but not alone), we agree others will not be alienated or sidelined because they don’t fit into our set expectations.
As ArtSHINE community members we each have a personal responsibility to be a leader on diversity issues within our communities and beyond.
